I'm new the IBS and trying to determine / figure out if I can have a child table linked to a custom table. An example would be an equipment list linked to a company that contains a sub table containing various serial numbers for the equipment. Each piece of equipment can have multiple serial numbers.

Same problem - I'm evaluating Impact and I cannot find a way to make a custom table that is a "child" of another custom table. The product blurb mentions child tables but apart from the obvious attachment of a custom table to one or more of the standard ACT tables there's nothing.
I have set up a custom table of Equipment, attached to Contacts. Now I need a Service table to be attached to/child of Equipment. Without the ability to do that unfortunately Impact will have little impact on our requirements and we won't take the trial any further.

Wandering around this forum I found the following in a response to a query about documentation for the Report module:

=====================================================================

For Impact - Custom Table Modules follow these instructions:

To add a child table onto the 'parent' data-entry form follow these steps:
1) Open the 'parent' form in the designer.
2) From the Controls drop down in the upper left select "List - Child Tables"
3) From the child table list drag your desired table onto the designer.

The system will create all the necessary parent/child relations under the hood. No need to do any coding or other manipulation.
Once it is on the designer you can move and re size.

=====================================================================

Don't know if that's our answer, but I'll try it tomorrow.

should read "move and resize and absolutely nothing else of any use".

This is my third time trying these add-ons and my last. Its too hard to make anything work and the doc is useless, when it doesn't just send you to a 404.

Here is the link to the "Adding a child table" help topic:

I did not understand "should read "move and resize and absolutely nothing else of any use"."

Can you explain in more details?
